Odd Pins Scarf Two

...this one was 20 stitches wide and I had loads of wool for the fringe but I think its may be slightly too long!!  Think I need to go for 25 stitches wide in future but at least I have now worked out how much wool I need for a good length scarf :0)

Odd Pins Scarf One

While I was at Hobbycraft I also bought some more wool to make two more scarves.  I decided to use my odd pins to knit it and I cant believe how quickly you can make a scarf with them...fab fun!

This one was 30 stitches wide but I didnt have much wool left for the fringe..

Sway Workshop - Doorways and Portals

Spent a happy day painting at Sway manor.  The theme was doorways and portals so I went for a passageway at Battle Abbey and a nice old mini wooden shutter in a manky old bit of stone wall.

Felt Balls and Flamenco

have made some more felt balls today.  You start with a small amount of fleece fibre and roll it into a ball and slowly add more fibers to build it up so you get a nice marbled effect...

...once you have got them to the size you want you need to spray them with water and put some Olive Oil Soap on your hands and rub them round and round so the fibres join together. Then you need to put each ball separately in a pair of old tights and ties knots between so they stay separate.  Heres my balls in tights, mum with hers and Pauline tying hers up...

We had a good bucket full between us.  Then you put them in the washing machine on a hot wash with a pair of jeans so they shrink down and felt and then you end up with mini balls of felt that you can turn into beads or you can cut them up too so you can see the pattern of the fibres all mixed together

I think I might need a bit more practice though as some of my balls came out like mushroom tops as I didnt add enough fibres to them!!
I have also been working on my flamenco scarf and have now run out of wool!!  Doh!  I want it just a little bit longer so I need to go buy another ball.  Its looking cool so far though!!

Interviews and playtime

We have had interviews for new face painters today.  I had some time between the morning and afternoon session so I got my practice pad out and played around with a freehand tribal design...

...then it was off to my aunts house in the New Forest for the rest of the weekend.  When I got there Pauline and Mum were playing at making felt balls so I had a go at making some too......

The picture quality is not good as I was using my mobile!
