Knitting With Wire

I have been introduced to a new game of knitting with wire which can then be used to make necklaces and bracelets.  I need to buy myself some of the right gauge wire to use to really play at doing this but for now I have had a go at this using some of Mum's wire and some generic seed beads just to see how I got on with it.

This was having a go at just knitting with the wire on its own...

...and this was having a go at doing it with beads...

I am going to The Big Bead Show at Sandown Park on 1st April so am going to buy more stuff to play with there.  I cant wait :0)

Gift Box

I have bought lots of the Hobbycraft little cardboard boxes over the years and keep meaning to decorate them but never seem to get round to it so I thought I would have a little experiment with one of them this evening.

I roughly stamped on yellow and orange all over the box so it had a nice slightly dappled effect and then covered it in holographic embossing powder and heat gunned it to emboss it.  I love the effect it has given, reminds me slightly of goldfish!!

I initially tried just stamping an image on the lid but the middle section of the stamp didn't press down and make contact.  Then when I tried to re-do it I didn't manage to get the stamp lined up properly with the first attempt so it came out looking blurred and naff :0(  So I decided to cover it up by making an overlay for the top to cover up my mistake!  I used the same yellow and orange ink to make the dabbled effect base on a piece of paper, stamped on the image and then used ultra thick embossing powder with a bit of holographic powder sprinkled on top so when it was heat gunned it had a nice smooth shiny texture to it, it almost has a plastic kind of feel to it and definitely doesn't look like paper now......

...I cut it to size and then stuck it on with PVA glue.  So there we have a rather shiny, sparkley box for a very special friend.  I do have a photo of whats inside but I will add that after their birthday so I don't ruin the surprise for them as I know they look at this blog sometimes ;0) I hope you like it xx

Birthday Card

I have used the wire flowers I made to create this birthday card.  I added some smiley faces and edged it with red holographic line stickers to frame it with a little bit of red diamonte and stars in the corners.  Its not supposed to be a polished and refined card but something silly for someone special to make them smile :0)

Peacock Hat

I was going to wear my red feather hat I created for the Christmas night out to my friends wedding today but then I went shopping on Wednesday night and my outfit is now blue with a pashmina with peacock feathers all over it.  So as a result I decided it was time to big up my other mini top hat which only hat the little bit of Ostrich feather fluff on the back.  So I have added a couple of peacock feathers to it and think its looking rather dapper now!!

Wire Flowers

This week I have been mainly making wire flowers!  I have a few birthdays coming up so I have been making these to go on cards.

Johnny's dad was rushed into hospital the tail end of last week and is still in intensive care so its been a bit of a struggle to keep this project going lately.  As a result I have not done as much this week but hey ho I haven't given up on it and will keep trying to fit stuff in when I can!

Wedding Card

My friend is getting married next Friday so todays project has been to make her a card.  As I'm enjoying playing with wire and beads so much at the moment I thought I would have a play at incorporating them into cards.  So here we have two intertwined hearts...

Valentines Card

Ive not been feeling well this week so I have managed to miss a few days...hey ho we are only human!

Valentines day is coming up so I thought I had better get a card made before I forgot.  I saw this idea on the paperchase website but didnt want to buy it as I wanted to make it my way!!

The photo is pants as the camera and scanner seem to both be struggling with this one.  It has a wiggly eye and the middle section has a holograhic heart which comes and goes when you tip the card.

As my man has a habit of saying he loves me by pointing to his eye then his heart then me I thought this would amuse him greatly, we shall see!!

I managed to revise the Union Jack Crown design and Painted it on the lovely Ruthey, I much prefer this version!

I did a little tribal turtle doodle on my hand...
